Leïca Désiré

Born in Cayenne in 1997, Leïca Désiré lives and works in Paris, where she is a second-year student at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Her practice unfolds between sculpture, painting and installation, which she conceives as spaces of circulation between forms, materials and sensitive narratives.
Her work is built around the figure of the garden, envisioned both as a physical place, a mental territory and a space of projection.
Conceived as a threshold — between domestication and wildness, memory and transformation — the garden becomes a tool for reflecting on inhabited landscapes. Drawing on personal memories and familiar landscapes, often linked to tropical or hybrid environments, the artist composes recomposed territories where the real and the fictional intertwine.
Through processes of reconstruction and displacement, fragments of ground, plant forms, organic volumes and precarious architectures respond to one another within immersive installations. Painting and sculpture extend this research through the treatment of textures, colours and materials, questioning the relationships between body, territory and memory.
In June 2025, she took part in a workshop organised by COAL in Fontainebleau, situating her approach within a collective reflection on the links between artistic practice and ecological issues, and deepening her interest in forms of cohabitation with the living world.
